Our History
Furnish Together was born from the belief that we are stronger together. After joining the furniture bank sector in 2022, our founder, Stephen Crary, noticed that while individual organizations were doing incredible work, they were doing it alone. Inspired by the collaborative models he saw in the health industry, he set out to connect furniture banks across the nation.
- 2022: Stephen Crary, the new Executive Director of Off the Floor Furniture Bank, identifies a lack of collaboration in the sector.
- 2023: A foundational coalition is formed, uniting 12 furniture banks with a shared vision.
- 2024: The organization officially becomes "Furnish Together: The National Furniture Bank Coalition," forming a board of directors and holding its first national conference in Silver Spring, Maryland.
- 2025: Furnish Together achieves official 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and hosts its second successful conference, continuing its rapid growth.
Today, we continue to expand our network, building partnerships that empower furniture banks to serve their communities more effectively.

Furnish Together exists to unite a nationwide network of member furniture banks to end furniture poverty and create dignified, well-furnished homes for all.
